Any coffee lovers out there?
After a 3+hr drive deep into the Costa Rican Mountains, toward our first destination, we stopped for a tour of an artisan coffee grower, Don Senel and a fabulous lunch provided by his wife.
The coffee growing process is such a labor of love and very time consuming. Coffee beans are the seeds of the beautiful fruit that grows on small trees, lining the hills. The high altitude is key to producing the best tasting coffee.
He walked us through his plantation and process and his love for the land, people and process was evident in the smile on his face as he spoke.
His coffee is so robust and amazing, he only sells to high end places throughout Asia & Europe.
He also drove us up to the Chakra Retreat Center, while we braved the back of his truck, an old 1976 badass vehicle. That ride was something else - felt like I was on a carnival ride.
We were surprised and thrilled to see that by the end of our time in the Chakra Forest, Don Senel had secured a brand spanking new truck for his farm - a feat by Costa Rican Standards as their vehicle regulations and taxes are outrageous, compared to ours in the US.
So grateful to have met him and his family, and brought home some of his delicious Costa Rican Cloud Forest Coffee...
